What About (M) and (O) Procedures

GLN Provides (M) and (O) Procedures

For each MEL, GLN either has the procedures from past approvals or we work with you to get these in place. We have literally thousands of pages of procedures from the entire Boeing fleet on down to the smallest piston airplanes and helicopters.

Sources of Procedures

Occasionally, the FAA may ask about the source of the (M) and (O) procedurs.
  1. The first choice is from the factory, but they are generally not complete, especially in the area of ATA 23 and 34 procedures.
  2. Next is past procedures from 20 years of MEL approvals.
  3. Operators, only as a last resort

Operator Review and Input on Procedures

You have the right, if not the obligation, to review and approve the procedures. Usually, we will send out an electronic version of the procedures so you can comment on them or make your own editing changes.

Coordinating Procedures With Your Current MELs
With our operators with multiple MELs we try to be sure that similar (O) and (M) procedures are kept sync with each other. A good example are the (O) procedures for loss of radios or navigation equipment, the RVSM issues, and some of the (M)s. It is expected that if you are flying different aircraft in your system that you find the same procedures for similar situations.
